It's all about the VICE!!!
About an hour ago I walked out of the theatre where I saw Miami Vice. And let me just say how incredible it really was! It was real, cool, intense, and it dominates this summer in my opinion. Pirates was fun, but unbelievable. Superman Returns was silly with their use of kryptonite, and Superman had the power of plot, he was as strong, fast, smart, as plot demanded and that was it. Scanner Darkly for all it's style and great dialogue was confusing for alot of people, and not everybody liked how stylish it was, it was a kinda weird vision of the future that alot of people found disturbing. Miami Vice was stylish in a way that everyone can appreciate, had a great plot, had love interest, tension, and was a real, gritty story about two cops struggling to stay alive when it is their job to be in way over their heads. I don't want to write something massive about it, full of spoilers and so forth, so I am just going to say, SEE THIS MOVIE!! This is a great movie I am sure you will enjoy! 5 outta 5!!!!

I say to wait 6 or 7 years then reboot the whole franchise under a different director, and creative team, and get closer to what the Vice should be all about.
Miami Vice won't even past $100 MILLION, let alone the $135 million price tag it's attached too. If even we add the worldwide BO (from www.boxofficemojo.com), we still won't approach $135 million. A different director/actors will help the series have legs.- Give it 6 or 7 years then reboot the franchise.
Miami Vice was a terrible movie, how can you justify seeing this crap, and how can you give SR even *** out of 5, when it clearly deserves a Negative 2. Miami Vice was 48% on Rottentomatoes.com-check out yourself if you don't believe me, SR sucked too- the best bet for the franchise is to reboot it in 7 years with a new cast/director- a director who can give it the vision it deserves and the cool music that Vice is about.
Miami's box-office opening was a measly $25 million- compare that with $135 million for Pirates 2- in THREE Days- that's TWICE the amount of money Miami will make!
Miami Vice could use a TV reboot..this would promote new interest in a movie. After the TV series was finished, you could movies based on that TV series.
I say bring back the old music number for the opening credits, some great action and sex sequences, make it an HBO-type TV series and it will sell.
So after 6 or 7 years of Miami Vice TV everybody will be screaming to bring the Vice to the Big Screen- then they could big screen action like they used to in those old "Die Hard" movies.

MIAMI VICE: Movie Ideas
I have some great ideas for the movie franchise.
I have this idea for a movie where Tubbs decides to try this strength-inducing drug because he couldn't save a little girl who was trapped in an underwater sewer, and he becomes super-strong because of the drug. Then so no one knows what he's doing he starts attacking criminals undercover wearing a hat, a trenchcoat and a manical laugh and beats the crap out of them with a stick. (A Stick!) his partner finds out then doesn't want to be his partner anymore and thinks Tubb has gone insane, but that's okay, because Tubb kills a bunch of bad guys, and the guy supplying him drugs tries to get him to kill Crocket, at which point Tubbs realizes what he's doing is definately "not cool"
our heroes go to this car shop, and they have to go up against this drug-induced Repo Man who just starts to tear apart at Crockett. He justs really, really big on these drugs, and Repo Man starts to pull on a Tubb's legs to tear them apart but our good buddy Crockett goes all "Davy Crocket" on him and starts shooting him in the eye, but the bullet bounces off his eye. (how cool is that???) Then Repo Man picks up a car and tears the motor out of it and throws it at Tubbs head.
This leads into a bigger story where we find out the gang leader is this guy from a South African country using this drug decides to make it his mission to break Tubb's back, so he breaks all the bad guys at prison at once, causing Tubb and Crocket to get sick and exhausted and overwhelmed. Finally, when he's at his breaking point, he arrives at Tubb's place, beats the crap out of him but breaks his back.
Tubb's replacement would be a hard-case guy who doesn't go by the rules and becomes dangerous. Tubb's replacement, Jean-Paul beats the crap out of the other guy but becomes more dangerous then he ever was. But Tubb's girl would be kidnapped so that sends him on a quest to South Africa while Crockett has to deal with Jean-Paul, Tubb's replacement. When Tubb's gets back, he manages to get his strength back (don't worry, the story is over many weeks, it makes sense) and then Tubb's has to take down crappy Jean-Paul in an all-out battle in Chinatown between Crockett, Tubb and Jean-Paul, who would know lots of karate stuff and be like a lethal weapon to them, but the guys would stop him and then complain how they're getting too old for this crap.
It's really a great script filled with lots of sex, violence, sex, action and TONS of original ideas!

For those of you curious, the MDiv in Mviv thing is not just a joke- I actually am taking my masters in divinity in pop culture and doing a doctorate on the philosophies/social values of the universe of the old Miami Vice tv series. There is TONS of religion in the film if you look at. The lack of a religious code creates chaos in the souls of the characters, causing them to do all sorts of crazy things. Christian spotlight on the movies were offended by the Lord' name in vain, the sex and nudity, etc. and the lack of mention of a God. That right there is an essay alone! What they fail to realize is that this movie has NOTHING to do with a Christian religon, but the religion of life, the religion that says 'this is right and this is wrong.' Christian spotlight tries to brainwash people into thinking their views, i'm trying to enlighten people to think dif about religion.

The box office right now is about $130 million worldwide, $70 domestic.
A sequel, then could go in one of two directions: less or more of that.
If it was a good movie, then we could estimate a box office realistically of $ 180-200 million worldwide, $120 million domestic.
Then MV 3 would do $250-300 worldwide, $180-200 domestic,
MV 4 would do $350-450 worldwide, $250-300 domestic.

Never thought of it that way..if we throw in Beyonce, Denise Richards, Paris Hilton, Erica Durance, Sarah Michelle Gellar, then I would say that you could definately increase the box office by 50% among young men, if you add a slight romantic element, then you add another 20% (this is MV, not SR, so only a slight increase, can't have a love story in MV), then that means I wager about 70% increase in sales after this movie.
So MV 2 would about do about $200 domestically, $300-320 million internationally.

I wanted to tell you sequels suck. You think Vice 2 will be good but sequels suck. Vice 1 was really good. I even got close to banning Viceman from my website because he didn't agree with me that the first movie was awesome but that sequels suck. He thought a sequel wouldn't suck, and we finally agreed that sequels suck. Not sure how I feel about remakes, but they can suck, or not suck. Remakes are a little different, or movies based on TV series or comic series (ex. Spider-man, Star Trek 1, etc.) but sequels suck. To give you an example of sequels that suck, and why Miami Vice 2 will suck, here are the 10 Most Over-rated Sequels that Sucked:
10) Superman 2- The first movie was brilliantly done, I loved the classic music, Richard Donner's direction, Christopher Reeve, and Marlon Brando. But the sequel sucked. Gimme a break, Superman becomes normal just to have sex with Lois? He DIDN'T NEED TO DO THAT- he could've just had super-sex with her! Dumb resolution to the story (a SUPER-KISS??), the Phantom Zone villains were OKAY, but only Zod and Ursa, Nod was annoying, and Gene Hackman was annoying this time around. No Brando or Donner and you got a sequel that sucked.
9) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade- how lame is this movie? Did I really want to see old-man Jones running around? Sean Connery deserved better then this, like he did in the Rock! (Welcome to the Rock!) Instead, we get a lame River Phoenix sequence, and a repeat of the first movie- Indy going after some stupid Christian relic and chased by Nazis. Stupid movie.
8) Star Trek 2- The Wrath of Khan- Star Trek 1 brillaintly made Star Trek into a classic, 2001 kind of film. This one reverted back to the cheesiness of mind worms (gimme a break) and the "death" of Spock. Retarded movie, I won't get into the rest of Trek movies here- but this was definately the worst of the sequels.
7)The Godfather 2- another over-rated crap fest, we already saw the Godfather- did we need a #2???
6)Spider-man 2- Ugh. One was pretty cool, but two was just one big fight scene after another. Dr. Octopus? Gimme a break. A repeat of #1.
5)Shrek 2- didn't this fairy tale END? PLEASE, gimme something new for my kids.
4) The Lord of the Rings: The Two towers- Return of the King sucked too, I suppose I could also put it at #4 as well. Hey, don't get me wrong, The first movie was awesome, and is my 10 best movies EVER, but parts 2 and 3 just go on and on and on and on and on and on and on. Couldn't they had a better script? The battle scenes were epically stupid, and just to show off CGI- dumb, could've been SO much better.
3) Terminator 2- Watch T1 and tell me if this is not exactly the same as this movie. T3 was better though, hot chick ruled!
2)X2: X-men united- Horrible movie, the SAME story again- mutants are hated, whine, whine, whine, plus, as a die-hard X-Men comic fan, they RUINED the story of Wolverine- they didn't have Alpha Flight, Canada or anything!!! Plus, more Magneto? Ugh. And Mystique in Blue Paint? Stop teasing me.
and finally, the worst movie sequel ever....
1) THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK- So lame it couldn't be called Star Wars 2 (or 5..whatever), this iditoic movie has Han solo falling for that Leia tramp, a lame revelation (I am your Father!), the leader of the Jedis is...a MUPPET???? I was expecting Kermit to show up and sing a duet with Yoda about "It's not easy being green." There's no DEATH STAR, and somehow the Rebels are doing WORSE then in the last movie and are LOSING by the end of the movie? Gimme a break? Han predicatbly gets captured for the sequel, no resolution, and easily the lamest light-saber battle in history. I won't even bother going into Return of the Jedi or the "Prequels", but this was easily worse then all of them put together- at least I had fun throwing popcorn at the screen when that Anakin brat showed up, or make fun of "teen beat" Anakin. But this movie...most overrated piece of crap ever. Thank goodness star wars is done forever.

The girl playing Lois lane was good, but not nearly as good as Phyllis Coates or Noel Neill, who played Lois in the 50's. Ben Affleck was great as Superman, and did a good job at capturing George Reeves' performance. It's too bad he didn't play Superman in a movie, although I liked Routh, Affleck's Superman would've also been interesting to see on screen.
